"Voy a Buenaventura frecuentemente por mi trabajo y aunque desde mi ciudad seria muy fácil hacerlo por tierra, es preferible irse en avión hasta Bogotá, y luego otro allí, pues la inseguridad y la falta de infraestructura de ese sector lo hacen necesario, también debido a ello la empresa para la que trabajo no ha querido invertir allá mas de lo estrictamente necesario y envía trabajadores del interior, mientras que en otras partes del país se está expandiendo y proyectando con optimismo. La ciudad, el puerto y el reto del TLC ameritan megaproyectos, pero no para que envíen de otras partes la fuerza laboral, mas bien para que recojan de la calle y de los esteros a toda esa población deprimida, carne de cañón de los violentos y les brinden oportunidad de vincularse a proyectos productivos."

The city, the port and the challenge of the TLC merit but development projects but not so that they send a labro force from other parts of the country,instead they should gather from the street and the seaside slums all that depressed population, cannon fodder of the violent ones, and offer them opportunities to link themselves to productive projects.”
