Miranda beats Green / Miranda le gana a Green

Miranda won. I told you so. It was a wierd fight, though. Green was trying to play it cool and stay out of reach, tapping a Miranda and going for many less punches than Miranda, who just got hotter with each round, a couple of time just lowering his hands, making faces, and being like "fuckin hit me already!" One time he stuck out his tongue and pantomimed jerking off. Finally in the 8th, Miranda lowered the right hand he had up for practically the whole fight at precisely the moment when he was backing up. Green sent his Codrington-tested left hook at him and for the first time in his 29 fight career, Miranda was on the ground. It was more an opportune shot than a real haymaker but it made Miranda mad. By the 10th round, Miranda had Green reeling, knocking him down twice and pummeling him straight into the last bell - even though he already had the fight pretty much won in the scores, he couldn't control his urge to pummel Green, and if this had been a 12 round fight, he probably would gotten the KO he seemed to want so badly. Still, Miranda's most attractive feature - his power and aggression - might someday get the best of his worst feature - lack of discipline. This guy just couldn't go 10 rounds of chess match and really just wanted to tussle. He needs a bit more discipline to be a great boxer - I mean, why risk stepping close to Green for the KO when he clearly already had the fight won in decision (The scores were 96-91, 96-91 and 97-90, all for Miranda)? One of these days somebody's gonna rope-a-dope him, although they'd have to be a power hitter (like Green is) to get Miranda to even notice. But that same hotheadedness is what makes him a great fighter to watch. Let's see how he does with Kelly Pavlik, probabloy his next opponent.

And in other news, Colombian super-middleweight Alejandro Berrío knocked out Russian-German Robert Steiglitz in 3 for the title in the International Boxing Federation - the same belt vacated by Joe Calzaghe. Link
