The Manuel Zapata Olivella Center & Wesley United Methodist Church cordially invite you to our second annual art exhibit commemorating
Black History Month, February 28 to March 6, 2009.
"We Paint a World: Art & Artists of the African Diaspora"
Paintings by Gerson Arias (Venezuela), Lazaro Baptista (Cuba), Solomon Asfaw (Ethiopia), Helina Metaferia (Ethiopia/U.S), Jaime Rivas (Colombia).
Saturday, February 28th
Opening Reception Afro-Latino & Caribbean refreshments, Afro-Colombian musical performance, conversations with the artists. Admission is free. Food and drinks available for purchase. Exhibit starts at 7pm.
Friday, March 6th
Closing Benefit: "Todos Los Santos" Milonga Tango Party. Proceeds will go to the MZO Center. Suggested donation $10. Starts at 7pm.
The events will be held at the MZO Center, located at Wesley United Methodist Church,
5312 Connecticut Ave. & Jenifer Street, NW, Washington, DC. 20015.
Exhibit hours are Monday through Friday from 12 to 8pm and Sunday from 12:30 to 5pm.
