On the 10th anniversary of the seminal music critic's death, some testimonies to him and his work by his music journalist progeny. He might not be so beloved by ethnomusicology for his "gonzo hippie jam session" approach and "liberate me from my uptight urban modernity" ideology, but how can you not be just a li'l bit jealous of a guy who took Ornette Coleman to jam at Jajouka? (OC also played "Here Comes the Bride" at one of RP weddings, also pretty cool!) Also, I have to admit that Deep Blues was a very seminal book for me back in the day. Anyhow, the link.
And anotha one, (like Biggie said.)
One more, for a documentary about his trip to Morocce called The Hand of Fatima.
"Dame dame dame, que te voy a dar ... una guayabita de mi guayabal."
